Seeking mental health services can be an intimidating step and it takes a lot of courage to ask for help. However, it can be a beneficial step in healing from trauma or loss, or learning new skills to cope with life stressors. I offer confidential sessions utilizing the client’s strengths to help achieve personalized goals striving for overall wellness.

Clients aged 2 to 6:

I offer Child Parent Psychotherapy for Children and their families. Depression and anxiety in children is commonly seen; yet it is not always recognized as it will often present different in a child than an adult. Sessions with a young child will usually run 30-60 minutes and can include family depending on individual client’s needs. Young children express themselves, learn social skills, and relieve built up stress and past trauma through play therapy.

Clients aged 7 to 13:

When working with clients from ages seven to thirteen sessions will generally last 45 or 60 minutes. Children this age can represent some unique challenges. This is a collaborative process working toward goals identified by the client and family utilizing evidence based interventions to meet each child’s specific needs based on their personality and developmental level.

Clients aged 14 to adult:

In the state of Michigan a client over the age of fourteen must give their consent to receive counseling services. If a teenager wishes for me to be able to discuss treatment, billing, or discuss appointments with a parent the client will need to sign a release of information. Sessions for clients fourteen years to adult are usually 60 minutes. Also though treatment is geared towards the individual client, couple, or family I use a strengths based approach often utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy.

Telehealth services are also available on a HIPAA compliant platform!
